DIRECTOR – LLB (Hons)

Claire joined Gedye & Sons in June 2015 and was appointed as a Director in August 2020. Claire is a member of our Property Team. She advises clients on the buying and selling of both freehold and leasehold property. Her clients include businesses as well as individuals. She also advises clients on grant, renewal and surrender of leases.

Claire graduated in 2004 with LLB (Hons) from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She went on to complete her LPC at The College of Law in York. Prior to joining the team Claire working in the north of the county. Her previous experience includes Family Law, Dispute Resolution and an interesting secondment to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s Property Department assisting with various property transactions, including lease negotiation and renewals, following the transfer of ownership from British Nuclear Fuels Limited.

Originally from Grange-over-Sands, Claire has returned to her roots with her husband and identical twin boys. When not in the office you are most likely to find Claire in the outdoors either running, cycling or fell walking.

Claire has always involved herself with her local Law Society as she values the support the Law Society gives, not only to the profession, but to individual solicitors as well. She was a committee member with the Carlisle and District Law Society and immediately joined the Westmorland Law Society when she returned to Grange. Her commitment was rewarded when she was elected Lancaster and Cumbria’s Law Society Council Member in January 2017.
